The T-Mat expansion joint conforming to UK Highway Standard CD 357 consists of a robust armored expansion mat made of high-quality chloroprene with metal reinforcement (T-bars).

The internal design of the expansion joint will allow not only horizontal movement on both sides of the joint, but also transverse and vertical relative movements of adjacent bridge decks, due to the discontinuous steel reinforcement combined with the flexibility of the material (chloroprene).

• With the expansion joint design, structural safety is guaranteed by absorbing the combined load and traffic forces that occur during train and vehicle passage.
• The expansion joint is designed with the thought that the ballast can be placed directly on top of the expansion joint without requiring additional protection or treatment.
• The internal design of the expansion joint is designed to allow high vertical movement due to differential seating (± 70 mm vertical and ± 100 mm transverse) without losing any of the other functional properties of the joint.
